Bio & Contact

My debut novel No Other World (Harper, 2017) is due out in February. My short story collection, Quarantine (HarperPerennial, 2011; Random House India, 2010), won a Lambda Literary Award and the Asian American Literary Award for Fiction. My short stories and essays have appeared in the Kenyon Review, the Sun, New Stories from the South, the New York Times Magazine, the International Herald Tribune, Marie Claire India, and other publications. In 2011, I was selected by Out magazine for its “Out 100” list of inspiring individuals. Born and raised in West Virginia, I currently live in Philadelphia with my partner and our dog, and I teach creative writing at the University of the Arts.

I am available for readings and speaking engagements. I also do manuscript consultations. Do you have a book group? I’m happy to visit in person (in the greater Philadelphia area) or via Skype. I love hearing from readers. You can contact me using the form below.
